311.48 Kelvin

Hello, my friends....

I say that with a very lethargic voice.  Not that I'm not happy to interact with my readers but just because it is so darn hot.....  It's too hot to do anything.... even meowing!  I've tried to cool off in front of the window:
At the back door:
The front door:
I even tried to transfer the coolness of the door to my head:
It didn't work, so I tried it the other way:
I also tried to cool off in front of the fan:
Even Maggie is hot!
That's about all the energy I can muster.  My humans even commented on my lack of meowing lately.  I haven't the energy to meow!  I did belt out a couple good ones this morning before the heat of the day presented itself.  The mercury is expected to rise to 311.48 Kelvin (101 F) again today.  Stay cool, my friends!  And to everyone on the east coast, stay dry!

Q&A And Maggie's Solution

Hello, friends!

I hope everyone is managing to stay cool out there!  It's really warmed up the past few days so I've been laying low.  I haven't even felt like going outside!  My human has drug me out a couple of times but when the weather gets into the 90ยบ + category I end up just lying down in the shade and making my human carry me back home.

Anyway, I had a couple of questions I wanted to answer that my reader's left with me in regards to my last post about my birthday.

One reader noticed that I was a very white kitten!  She asked, "Were you born with white fur?"  The answer to that is, "Yes!"  While my tail had black markings on it and the tips of my ears were darker, I was nearly all white!

But with age I've definitely darkened up.

I'm the opposite of a Lipizzaner horse!  A Lipizzaner is born gray and whitens with age!  Just a little known fact for you!

Another question that came up was, "Are you looking at all your baby pictures?"  I debated whether or not to bring this subject up on my birthday post.  So, I'll bring it up here.  The two pictures in my birthday post are virtually the ONLY pictures of myself as a kitten.  I often wonder why but sometimes it is just best to let sleeping "cats" lie.....  I won't mention that there are countless pictures of Maggie as a kitten...

Unrelated, I leave you with this recent photo of Maggie:

This is Maggie's solution to the blind's being closed!

See you next week!  I have a product review coming up!

So I'm A Senior, Am I?

Birthday is today.

Not sure what I'm supposed to think of it.

According to humans my birthday today makes me a "senior" cat.

Really not sure what I'm supposed to make of that.

Should I be offended?

Should I just take it all in stride and embrace my eighth year on this earth?

It seems like yesterday I was this itty bitty little kitten:

I remember when Maggie was just a kitten:

So many different places I have lived over the years:

Canby, OR
Aloha, OR
Vancouver, WA
Beaverton, OR
Oceanside, CA
Irvine, CA
Valley Center, CA

And that's just the cities I've lived in.  That doesn't include the moves within those cities.

It's hard to believe I've gone from this:

To this:

Well, here's to another eight+ years of eating, sleeping, and MEOWING!

Tick Awareness Day

Hello, friends!

It has been awhile since my last post!  My humans were out of town and took the computer with them so I didn't have access to the internet!

I have a very important topic to share with you today.  I'd like to dedicate today to being "Tick Awareness Day".  This topic was brought to my attention due to a recent incident of which, I will explain:

The day started out like any other day.

I may have slept in a little later than usual but I went out for my morning walk, ate some grass, walked around a bit and then went back inside.

However, it is this afternoon that I really want to talk about.  My short human reached down to pet me because I was looking oh so cute lying in front of the screen door.  She noticed a little bump in my fur and upon further inspection found a tick!!!

I must have picked it up during my walk today!  I've never had a tick before.  My short human says they're quite abundant in Virginia, but that she's never seen one in southern California.

My human remedied the situation by prying the little sucker (literally) out of my skin:

He was in there good!  Then she washed up all the blood and now it will heal.

I wanted to share this with my readers to ensure everyone is checking themselves for ticks after their morning walks!

If it can happen to me, it can happen to you, too!
