The Cultivation of Catnip

Hello, fellow readers!

It is getting to be a balmy 85+ degrees today so I decided it was the perfect day to take part in the cultivation of my own catnip!  I've had the dried stuff before but what could be better than your own fresh homegrown catnip?

The first thing I did was get all my supplies together starting with the container:

Maggie helped!

Then the soil:

Seeds:

All together:

Then I filled the container with soil:

Then I got really tired:

Here is the finished product:
Now it is up to my human to keep it watered correctly (I don't mess around with water).  If my catnip doesn't sprout I'm going to blame it on her.

All this gardening and blogging has made me really tired and I'm about to crash:

Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Post - Maggie

Hello everyone!

Wiley's sister, Maggie, here!  I am so pleased and excited to have this opportunity to address all of you.  Of course, let me start off with some pictures of me!

Okay, these are old pictures of me but I just had to squeeze them in.  Wasn't I just the cutest kitten?  I try not to rub it in to Wiley, because there are virtually only three kitten pictures of him, but I just think I was the cutest kitten ever.

Anyway, I'm five years old and this is what I look like now:

Alot of my likes are the same as Wiley.  I LOVE to sun bathe at the viewing window and I make him mad because I'm always up there:

So much so, that there is often a line to get into the viewing window:
He just got lucky this time!  That's why I never leave the viewing window!  Look at what happens!

Here is a picture of my view from the viewing window:

I'm sure you can see why I spend so much time there!  From here I can watch birds, rabbits, squirrels and the lizards that Wiley loves so much!

Having been a street kitten I'm not all that excited about going outside.  I'm happy to have a roof over my head, a constant food supply and warm places to sleep!

I'm not all food obsessed like Wiley but I do enjoy the occasional treat:

After all, I gotta watch my figure!

Peek-a-boo!!

Thanks for reading!

Allegations

It has been brought to my attention, via email, that I have a few readers questioning my ability to operate a computer.  I am hoping the following photos quell these allegations:

Stop by next week for a guest post from Maggie!

Response To Comments

Hello again!

Due to the lack of an operational reply button, I thought I'd address a couple of questions that cropped up in the comment section of my last post!

Panda asked, "Which of the wet foods is your favorite? "
This is what I eat everyday:

It is chicken, turkey, and shrimp flavor.

Alternatively, my human grandma has sent me this food a few times and I like it a lot.  I apologize for the lack of photo but I haven't a can to photograph.  It comes in many flavors and is very tasty.  My human said it smells like people food which I'm assuming she intends to be a compliment.

Both of these brands of cat food I'll readily consume immediately, unlike some other cat food where my humans put it out day after day after day until I have no choice but to eat it.  They call it, "the training me to eat new food method" but I call it "the alternative to starvation method."  In any case, I'm pretty happy with both of the aforementioned cat foods.

Sam asked, "So Wiley, is that like a weeks supply of food for you? :o) with all the exercise you've been up to?"  As much as I love to eat, one bag will last Maggie and I exactly three months.

It would probably last longer than that but my human just lets me free feed and I eat when I want.  She knows better then to try and put me on a schedule and restrict how much I can eat.  Believe me she wouldn't get a wink of sleep at night until that bowl was filled again.

In regards to exercise I can proudly say that in the past year, although I haven't lost any weight, I haven't gained any either!

That's what my human says.  Once again I could really care less about my weight or weight loss.  I eat when I'm hungry, no guilt, no remorse, just a full, happy belly.  It helps me sleep better.

Stay tuned!  I have some really interesting posts coming up in the next couple of weeks including a guest post by Maggie!  She's been bugging me to no end about it ever since I started this blog!  Keep those comments and questions coming!

A Trip To The P.O.!

Hello everyone!

I have a very exciting post to share with you today!  But first, I would like to bring something to your attention in regards to how this blog is set up.  You may or may not have noticed that there is not an option to reply to a comment.  Rest assured I am taking all of your suggestions under advisement and they are all very much appreciated.  The addition of a reply button is in the works and I will inform you of when it is fully operational.  In the meantime, please don't think I'm ignoring all your wonderful recommendations and comments!  Feel free to come back at anytime to read the comments again.

Now, on to the post of this week!  It was a very very exciting day!  To begin with, I was starting to get a little worried in regards to the cat food supply here.  I like to keep a good supply on hand and we were down to one 16.5 lb dry cat food bag and only three 24 count cases of mush food.  Luckily we got a shipment in and my supply has been raised to two 16.5 lb bags and five cases.  Whew!  I can rest easy!

Anyway, what makes this most exciting is I was invited to accompany my human to the P.O. to pick up my shipment of food!  Contrary to popular belief I LOVE going for rides!  Most cats don't but I enjoy it.  Here are some pictures of me during the drive:

I was in control of the radio station:
Sometimes I like to sit backwards and look out the back window and pretend I'm on a subway:
Here is the Valley Center P.O. where we went to get my cat food!
Here I am at the P.O. box:
As a side note, here is where my doctor is located at:

I don't like her.  She's always poking and prodding in places that shouldn't be poked and prodded.
I'd show you the rest of Valley Center but that is pretty much it and I could really care less!  I am much more interested in cat food and lizards and a patch of warm sun.  Here is my stock of food:
Well worth the trip!  It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside to know all that food is available to me.  Maggie and I will sleep good tonight!  Lastly, here is a pic of my human and I during our trip:
Rest assured, the vehicle was not in operation at the time.
Catch ya' next time!
